Warsaw from Above. Exhibition of photographs by Tomasz Gładys

December 13, 2019 – January 11, 2020
Exhibition finissage: January 9, 2020, 7:00 pm

Details of Warsaw’s landscape, wide vistas, abstract compositions emerging from the multitude
of elements of the cityscape is “Warsaw from Above” – an exhibition of photographs by Tomasz Gładys, the latest exhibition at Nizio Gallery.

The photographic project “Warsaw from Above” is a presentation of well-known and lesser-known places of Warsaw from a different, surprising and visually appealing perspective. Flying is an age-old human dream that, thanks to modern technology, can be fulfilled in several ways. Thanks to drones, admiring the world from a bird’s-eye perspective has become possible without taking off from the ground. This method makes it possible to take on challenges unavailable to other forms of aerial photography. Such was the case with the “Warsaw from Above” project. The collection of photos consists mostly of nighttime, thus technically difficult shots of Warsaw. This challenge could only be met by far advanced equipment: a drone with a relatively high lifting capacity (Freefly Alta 6) and photographic equipment characterized by perfect sensitivity of the sensors.
The world we live in can still surprise us, we just need to look at it from a different perspective.

Tomasz Gladys (born 1977)
Aviator, traveler, photographer by passion. His dreams and curiosity about the world “lifted him above the clouds” in the literal sense. As a General Aviation pilot, he combined his passions of flying and photography into one rewarding whole.
